The 38-kT (THE RICH) is a brass-bodied evolution of the original MIYABI lantern. At just under 4" tall and 3.5oz, it keeps the compact footprint but introduces a patina-rich brass finish that deepens in character with every use.

Its defining feature is Candle Mode, a flickering light setting that recreates the warmth of an open flame without smoke or sparks. Standard operation still cycles through Low → High → Off with smooth dimming, but the electrostatic touch switch can respond differently depending on conditions—an intentional outcome of working with solid brass.

While not flawless by design, these quirks are embraced as part of its individuality. Like the patina itself, the variations in touch response are part of living with an object made to age and evolve.

The lantern runs on a replaceable 18650 battery, recharges via USB-C (5 V/0.5 A), and carries the same ¼” screw mounts on top and bottom for tripods, ZEROPOD38, or other setups. Runtime and waterproofing match the MIYABI, with gradual fade into battery-protect mode to preserve cells.

38Explore FAQ

The 38-kT MIYABI does not support quick charging. It accepts only up to 5V / 0.5A. If used with a quick charger, it will block the input to protect the battery. Check that your cable and power source meet this requirement.

Roughly 6 to 7 hours using a standard USB cable. High-resistance cables or non-standard setups may result in slower charging or incomplete charge (green light may continue blinking).

The 38-kT MIYABI uses a static touch switch. If your hands are dry, the switch may not register. Lightly moistening your fingertip can help.

Like a phone or computer, the 38-kT has internal circuitry that can occasionally bug. If this happens, remove and reinsert the battery to reset it.

The indicator light displays how much of your battery life is remaining.

  • Orange: 26–50%
  • Blue: 51–75%
  • Green: 76–99%

A single, commonly available 18650 lithium-ion cell. The built-in model uses a 3200mAh version that is user-swappable, replacement batteries are available through KōROGI.

It is water resistant for everyday use, but not rated for submersion or high-pressure exposure.
