This September 5–7, KōROGI will bring the Korogi Café to Snow Peak Way Big Sur in California. Saturday morning, join us for coffee, conversation, and a chance to step into a living history of Japanese outdoor gear.

In the 1990s, Snow Peak shifted toward car camping and redefined what a campsite could look like. Tarps became larger and more durable, designed not just for shelter but as the backbone of modular living spaces. Furniture systems evolved to work together—tables, shelves, and cooking setups that could be reconfigured to match the rhythm of camp life. At the Korogi Café, we’ll recreate a campsite from this era, complete with original pieces that still feel surprisingly modern in form and function.

30 Years Before That

Snow Peak’s story begins in the 1950s, when the company introduced its very first pieces of mountaineering and camping gear. These early products set the tone for decades of design—compact, practical, and built for the rugged landscapes of Niigata, Japan. Visitors will be able to see and touch some of these incredibly rare originals firsthand, offering a direct connection to the foundation of Snow Peak’s design philosophy.

Takibi Time

In the evening, we’ll gather around the fire for Takibi Time. Beyond gear, this will be an open space to talk about travel in Japan: the best regions for camping, the evolving outdoor culture, and Snow Peak’s flagship locations. Bring your questions, whether about planning a trip or diving deeper into the heritage of Japanese outdoor recreation.

We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to Big Sur and sharing this moment together. Whether you come for the coffee, the history, or simply the community around the fire. We’re excited to see you there.
