Snow Peak Club Chopsticks #144

Commemorating the reopening of the Snow Peak Club, and its transition from the earlier Asterisk Club, Snow Peak released a limited edition Ebony model Wabuki chopsticks with the Snow Peak Club logo and serial number laser-engraved on the handle. 500 units were produced and offered between June 1st and July 31st 2005. At purchase, members were able to also engrave up to 12 english characters which often were a username or primary name of the owner.

Each pair was sequentially numbered from 1-500. While we don't have a confirmation, the numbers appear to be offered at random - with grouped sets presumably ordered together having wildly varied numbers. On the opposite side, if the buyer paid an extra ¥ 1,000 (about $6.00 today) they could get a custom phrase in one of 3 fonts laser-engraved. About 25% of buyers took this option.

The modern Wabuki Chopsticks are an updated take on this classic design.

Ebony Tips

One of four times Snow Peak has offered ebony tips for their portable chopsticks, and the only time they have been offered outside of a Festival release, the Snow Peak Club edition retained the standard packaging and red carrying bag - making it even more unique in the world of Wakubi.

Classic Cases

As each pair was and off-the-shelf upgrade, the case retained the same design as every other pair on the market. While some may consider this a missed opportunity, the subtleness and in-the-know attitude of the SPC chopsticks was enhanced with this discreet packaging.
