Nata Axe 150mm

Despite the Snow Peak label inserted in to the packaging, this nata axe was not manufactured by the brand. Offered in a variety of sizes, these camping staples were sold from the early 1980s through the late 1990s.

This model at 150mm in blade length included a leather cover and oak handle. Despite its cheaper price point, the quality and materials are far nicer than what could be purchased for an equivalent amount today.

Traditional Design

The Nata's long history blurs the line between axe and machete. A lighter tool than its Western counterparts, it excels at both clearing brush and chopping wood. Often sharpened on one side only, it excels at both forestry work and delicate tasks.

Basic Identification

Like many products from this era, the nata itself does not say Snow Peak on it, nor does it feature any Snow Peak logo. Instead, the simple paper insert is all that clues us in to the origins of this product.

Leather Case

While produced only a few years after the Hunting & Sporting Knife, there is a remarkable turn in quality. From the wood species, to the thickness and work of the leather case to the blade itself - this nata was intended for a lifetime of use.
