Snow Peak's Limited Apology Gift Items for Tent Repair

Last November, Snow Peak announced that there was a manufacturing error with many of the tents they offer, and that they weren't as waterproof as initially stated. While the United States is still finalizing plans, Japan has been moving forward with various options for consumers who purchased the impacted products. 

While Repairing your tent or shelter is available, you can also opt for what Snow Peak is calling an Apology Gift. These Apology Gifts are all limited products, some entirely new designs and others new colors that have never been previously offered.

Apology Gifts are broken out by how many products you own that are impacted by the recall. For example, if you own three Snow Peak tents, two of which are recalled, you would be eligible for a single "2 Product Gift". The application period is through the end of September, with products expected to deliver by the end of 2025.

What that out of the way, let's check out what is being introduced to the market.

One Product Gift Tier

Color Stake 30 All White 10 Piece Set + Drawstring Case

The quintessential Solid Stake 30 has been offered in Black, Chrome, and Bronze over the years. And with the introduction of the new color series it's gotten a bit more varied. But entirely white Solid Stakes are an all new foray. The included drawstring case isn't shown, but it's also a new addition to the line.

Vacuum Ceramic Coated Mug Black

Another staple in the 300ml Stainless Steel Vacuum Double Wall Mug, but ceramic coating is a new component. Snow Peak has obviously played with anodizing for titanium, and powder coating on Solid Stakes, but ceramic coatings are relatively limited. Having previously been seen only on limited items like the Black Jikaro Ring and Green Stacking Shelf Containers, to see it on a mug is a twist.

Flat Burner Exclusive Lid Tray Black 2 Piece Set

A hugely popular add-on to the Flat Burner Stove is the Flat Burner Cover. Quite a few brands offer something similar, we at KōROGI offer one from Camping Moon, and to see Snow Peak move into this space as well is an investment in the community. The unique component with this one is that it's clearly based off the 1U Stainless Steel Tray, and therefore can be used as a lower shelf on the Stainless Steel MyTable as well.

Camping Floor Mat + Storage Bag

While no size is given, this floor mat uses a classic Snow Peak graphic of the Pack & Carry Fireplace to create an entry mat to place outside your tent.

Dry Bag

Snow Peak's dry bags to date have been mostly rectangular and designed to work within the Unit System. This Dry Bag departs from that and takes a more traditional approach with a roll top closure and air-tight seal.

Luggage Multi-Sheet

Most sheets offered by Snow Peak are specific to a tent or shelter, this Multi-Sheet is more universal. Intended to be staked into the ground, it offers a clean and dry space to lay down your bags before a tent is fully set up.

Two Product Gift Tier

Flat Burner Black

Another color-up is the Flat Burner. Snow Peak's most popular camp stove that sees a world of aftermarket support is seeing its first new color in the nearly 20 years since its introduction.

Three Product Gift Tier

Wing Tarp Ivory

The Wing Tarp was one of the first Snow Peak tarps created in the early 1990s. On the smaller side, it's simple rhombus design offers enough coverage for 1-2 people. As such an old product, it's never been offered in most modern colors including the Ivory seen here.

Five Product Gift Tier

Elfield Duo Ivory

While the Elfield line lives as the Entry 2 Room, the Elfield Duo is a long since discontinued tent option for 2 people. Being re-introduced in the Ivory colorway allows this older design to come into the modern era.

Seven Product Gift Tier

Jacquard Floor Rug

A large woven floor rug can be a warm way to bring camp into your house. With an older product lineup of some now discontinued items, the iconography remains timeless, and the deep indigo coloring pulls from a cultural legacy. 

Fifteen Product Gift Tier

Living Shell S Ivory

The Living Shell was the first true shelter Snow Peak created back in 2005. It lives today as the Living Shell Long Pro. (LSLP as it's lovingly called), but the more compact version hasn't been as prevalent, especially in the United States. Here it's presented as another updated color in Ivory.

Twenty-Five Product Gift Tier

Sol Pro. Ivory

Looking beyond product names into product design is a fantastic way to understand the history and through lines of a product. The Sol Pro. Shelter took the Living Shell Long Pro. and expanded it into a new dimension. With support for up to 9 adults, it also has large roof openings to let the sunlight in on those nice days. Again, offered in Ivory as a new take on a classic silhouette.

Standard Item Gifts

Since these products are unique, and in some cases require quite the portfolio of tents to already be owned and under recall, Snow Peak is also offering standard items as an Apology Gift if you'd prefer. These will deliver within a month after you've submitted your request, and we won't get into them here, but can be a good way to grow your collection.

Final Thoughts

It's unfortunate that these products had to be recalled, but it is endearing to see not only the quick action but variety of options available to consumers with recalled product. While this is currently for Japan only, it's certain to come to the United States to some degree.
