While the United States arm of Snow Peak has expanded to four Snow Peak Way events for the year, Snow Peak Japan has announced its fourth type of event to take place in 2025. With Snow Peak Way, Snow Peak Way Premium, and Snow Peak Starter Camp events already taking place, Snow Peak's Fly Fishing Camp will introduce anyone who wants to partake to the sport and how to fish.
Taking place in two different locations and three events for 2025, attendees can either visit Snow Peak's Shirakawa Kogen location (which we wrote about here), or a bit northeast of Lake Biwa, about an hour from Kyoto.
Snow Peak describes the event as focusing on, "an activity that allows you to learn, feel, and love nature.", and welcomes newcomers. The two-day, one-night event involves three main components.
Discovering the Charm of Fly Fishing
Focusing on more than just catching fish, Snow Peak's mission focuses on the activity of Fly Fishing itself, and how it allows you to experience the cycle of life in nature. This first moment for campers introduces Fly Fishing through a naturalist view, and the connections between the forests, aquatic insects, and fish themselves.
Experiencing Fly Fishing
With a deeper understanding of the natural world, campers will be provided all the equipment needed to begin fishing. Sine both locations are managed (stocked) fishing areas, it creates a welcoming experience for even the newest to the sport with hands on guidance from the first step, to equipment walkthroughs and tips on how to fish.
Connecting Through Fly Fishing
When the fishing over, campers will gather around the Takibi to talk to other outdoor enthusiasts, talking about their experiences fly fishing and any other curiosities they may have about camping and the outdoors.
While these events are currently scheduled for Japan only, we saw Fly Fishing come to form for the Snow Peak Brooklyn store, as well as Snow Peak Way East 2025, so it's entirely possible the brand will bring an event like this to the US in the near future.
