Innovation with X-Shaped Stand Legs

The COORDUNIT was developed from a simple idea: camping should be free and flexible, supported by gear that is easy to use. Campers often face the challenge of balancing comfort with the need to keep luggage to a minimum. COORDUNIT was created to solve this, providing a single modular system that can adapt to different styles of camping.

Development Background

Most expansion gear on the market focuses on size, adding bulk to create more surface area. The COORDUNIT took a different approach. Instead of just enlarging space, the goal was to “expand style,” offering new ways to arrange, connect, and combine gear depending on the situation—from solo use to family setups.

The development began with a focus on the stand legs. Early prototypes used straight I-shaped legs, but these lacked stability and ease of assembly. Inspiration came from the Co-Side Table, which featured a crossed locking mechanism. From this, the concept of the X-shaped stand legs was born—stronger than I-shaped legs, slimmer when folded, and requiring fewer parts.

Refinements and Key Features

During prototyping, several details were added to improve function. Hooks were introduced at the joints, making it possible to hang small accessories. A locking mechanism was added to increase stability when open. The leg shapes were refined to prevent rattling and to stack securely when combined. Each step was designed to balance durability with ease of use.

The uneven design at the base of the legs allows units to connect firmly when stacked, while still remaining simple to assemble. Optional parts, such as top boards, were also developed to expand the range of functions—making the system suitable for use as tables, racks, or shelving.

The Final Form

The COORDUNIT can be stacked vertically, joined side by side, or bridged with accessories. This three-direction expansion creates flexibility in layout and use. The result is a system that serves as both furniture and storage, adjusting to different group sizes and activities without unnecessary complexity.

More than a single product, the COORDUNIT was developed as a foundation for future camping culture—gear that is adaptable, compact, and easy to integrate into any outdoor style.
